Glade House is reached on foot departing from Glade Wharf, at the northern end of Lake Te Anau. The Milford Track Hike commences in Queenstown on New Zealand's South Island. On day one guests travel by bus from Queenstown to Lake Te Anau, and then board a boat for a one hour cruise to Glade Wharf.

A snapshot of Glade House, taken more than a century ago, has come to light. Glade House marks the start of the Milford Track at the head of Lake Te Anau. General manager of guided walks company Ultimate Hikes Noel Saxon received a copy of the photo, which was taken in 1906 by Central Otago photographers Muir and Moodie, late last year.
